The game takes place in the Danger Room, an area within the X-Mansion where the X-Men train. A satellite-transmitted virus has infected the room, disabling its control and safety limits. The heroes must resist the Danger Room's unpredictable behavior until the virus can be located and eliminated. After neutralizing the virus, the mutants discover that the computer virus was created by Magneto, whom they face in the game's final level.
